I got called out! 🤦🏻‍♀️😂

I got called out by a friend at Friendsgiving.

I was talking about the Pumpkin Spice Maple Pecan cheesecake I had made from scratch and how it probably would have been better with a maple pecan drizzle, but I couldn’t be bothered to take the time to do that because the glaze would be hot and then partially melt the cheesecake and then I would have to reset it in the fridge, and it would be a whole process. So I just didn’t.

My friend laughed and said that the way I could put in the energy and effort to do 4 Ironman distance triathlons but couldn’t be bothered to add a maple drizzle to a cheesecake that I had already made from scratch was fascinating. I really take into consideration what deserves my energy, focus, and time.

This made me realize how much of my life is focused on energy management and discerning what is worth it and what is not, and what the consequences of my choices might be over time.

This is why I’ve made Health such a big part of my life - I can see the return on investment. I’ve taken the time to become the person who naturally chooses healthy behaviors - prioritizing protein, eating vegetables, daily walks, lifting weights, and going to bed at 9 pm — because I know that they will support my body and allow me to do more and push harder in other areas.

I truly believe and stand behind the idea that your life is more fulfilling when you take control of your health.

When you realize that to get more happiness and have a longer life, you need ENERGY, and that comes from meeting your needs. It’s not about weight loss; that’s just a by-product of a healthy lifestyle. It’s about energy. It’s about the ability to keep going, to fuel the system for better performance, whether athletically or creatively, or to help other people in your own way.

People want to improve their health and have more energy, and be able to do epic shit that involves pursuing their passions with vigor and vitality. Health is an aspect of Self-improvement. The path to achieving all your dreams is reached by taking care of your human meat sack, and it’s your job to eat well and move more so that you have the energy to do the most.

People are attracted to the idea that they can reach their dreams and that they have control of their future. Making health a priority and learning to manipulate the ebb and flow of your energy is the way to that control.

When you master your own energy, you can show up more for your creative passions, for your people, and get after bigger goals.

This is why I do what I do because I believe that everyone is capable of so much more than they realize and that with a little guidance and the right systems in place, we can optimize our lives to serve us in pursuing our dreams instead of getting exhausted, distracted, and burnout.

All this to say, health is about learning how to discern what is worth your energy and what is not. I know what my biggest ROI for health behaviors are, and I make sure to make space for those in my life. As the New Year approaches, take this month to start to think about what those are for you and where you might focus your Resolutions in 2025. I’m all for starting to reflect and plan for next year now to take advantage of the fresh start effect and get ahead of the game.

Write me back; I’d love to know what your biggest ROI Health behaviors are,

Morgan

I see this every New Year: A client shows up to their onboarding call, eyes bright with determination. They’ve emptied out their pantry of every “bad” food in favor of fresh-cut veggies, splurged $200 on some new LuLu leggings, and meticulously planned their new 5 am workout routine. I’ve felt that excitement, that rush of believing “this time will be different.” But here’s the thing: two weeks later, the strict meal plan will be abandoned, the early morning alarm snoozed, and the workout...

It’s rave day! 🦄🌈 Today, I am going to Dreamstate, a must festival here in SoCal that I have been going to since 2016. The festival runs from 1 pm to 1 am, with afters that go till 6 am both Friday and Saturday. This is my "epic shit" that I have been training for. I am very much treating this as an endurance sport. This week, I made sure to get in two lifting sessions and my “now” regular morning walks, but I’ve made it a lighter deload recovery week in preparation. Today is the day that I...

I was having a conversation with a friend the other day about going to the gym, and they said, “I need someone telling me what to do, or I will not do it. I’m not like you; you’re motivated, and you do it.” The thing is, I’m motivated now. I wasn’t when I started. I just wanted results. Old me wanted to already be “fit.” I didn’t want to go through the sweating, the uncomfortable jiggling, the aches and pains as my body adapted to new movement patterns. I didn’t want to learn how to do...
