I got called out by a friend at Friendsgiving. I was talking about the Pumpkin Spice Maple Pecan cheesecake I had made from scratch and how it probably would have been better with a maple pecan drizzle, but I couldn’t be bothered to take the time to do that because the glaze would be hot and then partially melt the cheesecake and then I would have to reset it in the fridge, and it would be a whole process. So I just didn’t. My friend laughed and said that the way I could put in the energy and effort to do 4 Ironman distance triathlons but couldn’t be bothered to add a maple drizzle to a cheesecake that I had already made from scratch was fascinating. I really take into consideration what deserves my energy, focus, and time. This made me realize how much of my life is focused on energy management and discerning what is worth it and what is not, and what the consequences of my choices might be over time. This is why I’ve made Health such a big part of my life - I can see the return on investment. I’ve taken the time to become the person who naturally chooses healthy behaviors - prioritizing protein, eating vegetables, daily walks, lifting weights, and going to bed at 9 pm — because I know that they will support my body and allow me to do more and push harder in other areas. I truly believe and stand behind the idea that your life is more fulfilling when you take control of your health. When you realize that to get more happiness and have a longer life, you need ENERGY, and that comes from meeting your needs. It’s not about weight loss; that’s just a by-product of a healthy lifestyle. It’s about energy. It’s about the ability to keep going, to fuel the system for better performance, whether athletically or creatively, or to help other people in your own way. People want to improve their health and have more energy, and be able to do epic shit that involves pursuing their passions with vigor and vitality. Health is an aspect of Self-improvement. The path to achieving all your dreams is reached by taking care of your human meat sack, and it’s your job to eat well and move more so that you have the energy to do the most. People are attracted to the idea that they can reach their dreams and that they have control of their future. Making health a priority and learning to manipulate the ebb and flow of your energy is the way to that control. When you master your own energy, you can show up more for your creative passions, for your people, and get after bigger goals. This is why I do what I do because I believe that everyone is capable of so much more than they realize and that with a little guidance and the right systems in place, we can optimize our lives to serve us in pursuing our dreams instead of getting exhausted, distracted, and burnout. All this to say, health is about learning how to discern what is worth your energy and what is not. I know what my biggest ROI for health behaviors are, and I make sure to make space for those in my life. As the New Year approaches, take this month to start to think about what those are for you and where you might focus your Resolutions in 2025. I’m all for starting to reflect and plan for next year now to take advantage of the fresh start effect and get ahead of the game. Write me back; I’d love to know what your biggest ROI Health behaviors are, Morgan |

You do NOT need to do everything perfectly in order to get results. You just need to do a few things mostly well and consistently. I went through a bulk (where I was eating in a surplus to put on muscle) a couple years ago and I had a spreadsheet where I was tracking probably 20 different metrics - steps, sleep, protein, carbs, fat, fiber, my cycle, sleep, hydration, energy, measurements, weight, my lifts etc… And it while I THRIVE in data - even for me it was overwhelming each week to have...
I underestimate big projects (“Oh, that’ll take 30 minutes!” *It took 3 hours)I’m brilliant at creating monster to-do lists- I’m terrible at figuring out what actually needs to happen TODAY- I underestimate big projects (“Oh, that’ll take 30 minutes!” *It took 3 hours)- I overestimate small tasks (“This will eat my whole morning!” *It took 5 minutes)I'm feeling behind this week. Last week? I managed three late nights of dancing, head-banging to great music, living my best life. This week? I’m...
I squashed my perfectionist brain yesterday and painted for the first time in maybe years. Instead of spending another day thinking about how much I wanted to do art, that I needed to set up a space, carve out some time, and dig out my art supplies buried deep in the dreaded junk closet, I took a straw from coaching. I asked myself, ‘How can I make this as low-lift as possible? What do I need? What keeps getting in the way? How can I lower the barrier to entry?’ We often get stuck in these...
